Today I’m going to be talking about the Warfield Theater, a venue in San Francisco that I saw (almost) my first concert at. It seats 2,250 and is located at 982 Market Street, San Francisco CA 94102.
OK. Flashback. The concert I saw there was a Boys Like Girls concert before they became super popular… Go figure. I went on October 25, 2007 when I was in 7th grade, just getting into this kind of music. At the time, I was going to a Catholic private school, which I hated. My friend Gabby and I were both absolutely OBSESSED with BLG and we had the hugest crush on the lead singer, Martin Johnson. I actually have pictures of Martin looking at me
Before the concert, which my stepmom Ellen and her friend Karine took us to, we dipped cubes of bread in melted cheese at the Matterhorn, YUM! I accidentally knocked a wine glass off of the table with my elbow and the employees were very very pissed. After that concert Gabby and I both made a vow to each other that whenever Boys Like Girls came to the city we would HAVE to go see them and get backstage passes, even if we became sick of them and didn’t like them as much anymore.
The Warfield Theater is a beautiful venue with carvings in the walls, spectacular lighting, and oozes a regal vibe to the people fortunate enough to attend an event there.
Upcoming artists are Zero 7 with Phantogram on December 15th at 8 PM, Robin Thicke with Ryan Leslie and Laura Izibor on December 19th at 8 PM, Brian Setzer Orchestra on December 20th at 8 PM, The Roots with Orgone and DJ Harry D on December 31st at 9 PM, Umphrey’s McGee with Cornmeal on January 16th 2010 at 9 PM, Styx on January 17th at 8 PM, Editors with Antlers on February 8th at 7:30, Eddie Griffin with Kwane Siegel on February 19th at 9 PM, and Ron White on February 20th at 8 PM.
As for The Roots with Orgone and DJ Harry D on December 31st, who would want to spend their New Years Eve at a concert rather than at a party with all your friends and the celebration? Every year we host a huge party at my dad’s house (my parents are divorced) and a lot of people come because we always host great parties (not to gloat) and when the ball starts to drop in New York everyone becomes quiet and counts down from 5…4…3…2…1…0 and on zero everyone kisses the person next to them. This tradition may be controversial, but people can just deal with it.
OK I promised myself I wouldn’t stray from the subject and that’s exactly what I’m doing. So let’s get back to the Warfield. Famous performers that have played there are Meg and Dia, Dimmu Borgir, Slayer, The Color Fred, Angels and Airwaves, Pet Shop Boys, The Grateful Dead, Korn, Nine Inch Nails, Guns N’ Roses, Queens Of The Stone Age, Ace Enders, Serj Tankian, My Chemical Romance, Panic! At The Disco, Phantom Planet, and Phil Lesh just to mention a few.
